Dear Mrs. Behrman:
My hobby is researching the early settlers of the Arkansas..before
the American era began after the La. Purchase.
I note with interest your listing of documents in your files found
in Acadian genealogical publication some years back. Hopefully, you
have not moved.
I am currently writing an article for the local historical society on
a Lepine family of pre 1750 residency. A daughter was married to a
Guillaime Bienvenu. The father died in the l740s and his widow
remarried Charles Lincto. The family moved to Point Coupee. Lincto
died and the widow moved to New Orleans where she died. Her succession
appears in the LaHQ: vol 26 1214-32. The largest debt owed to the estate was
a note signed by Mariana Bergeron, widow of Guillermo Bienvenu. I have
no record of Marianne Lepine married to Guilliame Bienvenu in Ark.
after 12 Apr 1747 when they made a mutual donation per LaHQ 18:177. I
feel that Mariana Bergeron, widow Gaudin, way have married Guilliame
Bienvenu, widower of Marianne Lepine, but have not been able to locate a
marriage record or contract. Do you have this information?
I also note that you list the possession of the succession of Marie
Anne Bienvenu, widow of Jacques Dupre Terrebonne. I have not established
any connection these Bienvenus.... Guilliame and Marie Anne. However, in
other research, I have established who Marie Anne's Bienvenu family is as
descendants of her sister Jeanne Bienvenu are still numerous in Arkansas.
Is this of interest to you? If so, I will be happy to share with you.
I am trying to find out for this article on Lepine where Gullliame Bienvenu
and Marianne Lepine went from Arkansas, when she died, and if they had
issue. I thought if Marie Anne Bergnon married the same Guilliame Bienvenu
I might get some leads from a marriage contract or record for them.
Any information or assistance in this instance greatly appreciated.
