Route 1 Almyra, Ark, 72003 24 October 1974 Rowena Mulhern P. O. Box 135 Rayville, A. 71269 Dear Rowena, Happy to hear from you again and happy to report that granddaughter and mother left San Antonio today for England to rejoin our son. Miriam has responded well to therapy…is now in remission which seems to be stable enough so that her doctor felt it was safe for her to return to England that her drugs would maintain her satisfactorily until Boyce's tour of duty there ends next March. They should be in England by in the morning. I am beginning to think about other things now so your letter and windfall of information was most welcome. It will take me a while to digest all of it and fit the pieces into place but definitely this is our FRANCOEUR. There is one Pierre Perthuis still here in the American era who is listed as only heir-at-law of Francis Francure. Since there were two Pierre Pertuises at the same time. I still have not unraveled all of this. I keep searching for the keys and clues and will probably come to light as did this document for you after so many years. Ever to search, I say.... I don't know whether I ever wrote it to you that in the Arkansas I find a piece of the FRANCOIS CHEVAL and MARGUERITE COLOMBO story that it appears everyone who has ever done any La. research has written up somewhere in some place and I had never seen any reference to this daughter and her issue. This lady was still here in 1760's and it was her daughter that married the Francois Perthuis that had some children baptized at Ark. Post in 1764 who show up in southern La. The next time you go to the library, you can check her succession in LA His. Quarterly Vol. 26, p 1216-1232. By her, I mean Francois Cheval's daughter, Catherine who m. first Jean Francois Lepine and 2nd. Charles Lincto (with many variant spellings). I throw this out as you mentioned finding Francois Perthuis and wife Angelique Lepine in south La. Feel sure they are the same as the ones in Arkansas as indicated by this succession. I would certainly like to examine the book from which these references came. Can you give me complete title, author, date of publication, etc. so that I may see if I can order out from La. Library on interlibrary loan? Do you have access to any records of St. John the Baptist Parish at your library? Have some families that seem to be from there showing up here. We hope to go to New Orleans to visit our son sometime before the end of the year. Perhaps we can drive through you town...would be nice to meet you... This looks like it is shaping up to where I will be able to do an article on the White River FRANCOEUR for our local historical bulletin. Warmest Regards,
