[English Translation] January 27 1726 Pierre Oliveau with Marie Magdeleine Gaffel No 231 Jan 1726 on the 27th, after publication of the first ban on the 25th of this month on Sunday from the pulpit of the parish church during mass, and accepting the other two for good and valid reasons between for Pierre Oliveau, a native of Champagne, diocese of La Rochelle, son of deceased Larent Oliveau and Hélène Robert, his father and mother on one hand, and Mary Magdeleine Gaffel, daughter of deceased Leonard Gaffel and Catherine Volf, in second marriage married to André Schantz, a resident of the parish of des Allemands, her father and mother on the other hand, and not having found any impediment to the effect of the said marriage, I, the undersigned priest Capuchin vicar in New Orleans and General Vicar of the Bishop of Quebec have received their mutual consent I gave them the nuptial blessing with the usual rituals of the Church in the presence of the undersigned parents and witnesses to wit Andrew Schantz, stepfather of the bride Magdeleine Gaffel, Jacob Mittec, residint at Les Allemads, François Bourdon [Briodon?] residing in New Orleans, Jaques Gellereau residing at the Arkansas who signed with me, only the groom signed the other named persons declared they did not know how to sign so they made their ordinary marks.
