[MS in English, then in French] Territory of Arkansas } County of Arkansas } ss Be it remembered that on the fifteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty, personally appeared before me one of the Justices of the peace, duly qualified and commissioned aboved named M..[MS illegible] for the aforesaid county, the within and foregoing deed for [added line first words unreadable...] that he has signest seal'ed the within and the purposes therin mentioned expressed and contained In testimony wherof I have, hereunto set my hand and day and date above written Eli J. Lewis Justice Peace Received and recorded Feb. 15th 1820 ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [English Translation] Territory of the Arkansas Let it be known to all those who read this here that we, Etienne Vasseur + Suzanne Pertuis my spouse, with Aimée Pertuis and Eugénie Pertuis, undersigned with our common marks and in the presence of witnesses, we have this fifteenth day of the month of February 1820 recognized, and we recognize as good and valuable, both in our names and in the names of our assignees, the sale of a land with a house on it, located in the village of the Arkansas; this land is three hundred and twenty four feet deep by ninety feet wide, bordering on the West side the land of Mr Frederic Notrebe; on the East side to two small lots belonging to Messrs John Taylor + Fred. Notrebe; to the South to the crossing street and on the North to the other crossing street. The sale of the said land + house was made and signed by our father in law Francois Grebert + Suzanne Grebert, our own mother, in the name and for the benefit of M. Williams Mabette who sold and yielded all his claims to Mr Frederic Notrebe, living in the same territory of the Arkansas, in consequence of that which is mentioned above and otherwise, we, cited above, Etienne Vasseur and Suzanne Pertuis, my spouse, Aimée Pertuis and Eugénie Pertuis, ratify with satisfaction the said.... [Transcription] Territoire des Arkansas Qu'il soit notoire a tous ceux et celles qui verront ces presentes que nous Etienne Vasseur et Suzanne Pertuis mon epouse, Aimee Pertuis et Eugenie Pertuis soussignes avec nos marques ordinaires et en presence de temoins. Avons ce jourd'hui quinze du mois de Fevrier 1820 reconnu et reconnaissons pour bonne et valable, tant en nos noms qu'en ceux de nos ayant causes, la vente d'un terrain et une maison dessus, situes au village des Arkansas lequel terrain contient trois cent vingt quartre pieds de pro deur sur quatre vingt dix pieds de largeur, attenant du cote de l'ouest au terrein de M. Frederic Notrebe, du cote de l'est aux deux petits lots des sieurs John Taylor + Fhed ic Notrebe au sud a la rue de traverse et au nord a l'autre rue de traverse, la vente du dit terrein + maison a ete faite et signee par notre beau pere Francois Grebert + Susanna Grebert, Notre propre mere, au nom et en faveur de M. William Mabett lequel a revendu et cede tous ses droit au dit Sieur Frederic Notrebe, habi au meme territoire des Arkansas, en consequence de ce est cite dessus + d'autre part nous sus mentionnes, Etienne Vasseur, et Suzanne Pertuis, mon epouse, Aimee Pertuis et Eugenie Pertuis, ratifions avec satisfaction ladite [Handwritten notes in left margin] >DEED B1CC 431-32<
