ACT NO. 84
AN ACT RELIEVING SCHOOL CHILDREN OF COMPULSURY ATTENDANCE
IN RACIALLY MIXED PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Not withstanding any other provision of law, no child
in the State of Arkansas shall be required to enroll in or attend any
school wherein both white and negro children are enrolled.
SECTION 2. It has been determined that it is necessary for the
peace, health, safety and general welfare of children of school age that
they should not be compelled to attend any public school wherein both
white and negro children are enrolled. An emergency is, therefore,
declared to exist and this Act shall be in force and effect from and
after its passage and its approval by the Governor.
