Reel 358, Item 8
In the Pines
Through the pines
Where the sun never shines,
And you shiver when the cold wind blows.
True love, true love, don't you tell me no lies, Where did you stay last night?
I stayed in the pines where the dun never shines, And you shiver when the cold wind blows.
My shoes are worn, my clothes are tore,
No money to buy any more,
My true love was killed last Thursday night,
Just a mile and a half from town,
His hair were wound in a big dry wheel (?)
But his body has never been found.
Runs on this Mobile line
The little girl said 'bout four o'clock, (1) The caboose it passes at nine.
Through the pines, through the pines,
Where the sun never shines,
And you shiver when the cold wind blows.
(1) This is what the tape sounds like. From other singers, this line should be, "The engine passed 'bout four o'clock.
