Talk: First Wire Fence
James M. Walden: I can remember the first ever barbed wire fence
that was ever in this country.
Irene Carlisle: Was that in a good while?
Walden: Yeah, it's been fifty, fifty-five years or more, in that
neighborhood. My father bought it. We had people come from
Harrison, Arkansas up to see that barbed wire fence. It was a
great mystery. Nobody never saw nothing like it.
Carlisle: Really?
Walden: He had a . . . and he bought of that wire around that. .
. My dad owned three farms and - during his lifetime.
