5718 Mendocino Avenue Oakland, CA 94618 July 30, 2013 To Whom It May Concern: I am writing to confirm that Lawrence and Sharon Tarantino consulted with my father, Abe Wilson, in their restoration project of the Bachman Wilson House, my childhood home. Soon after the Tarantinos purchased my parent's house in 1988, they contacted my father to enlist his assistance in the massive undertaking of restoring the Bachman Wilson House. Though Morton Delson was the apprentice assigned by Frank Lloyd Wright for the initial stage of construction, once construction was underway, my father and my mother, Gloria Bachman Wilson, acted as general contractors for the project. My father worked hands- on cutting the Wright designed clerestory window cutouts, and hand-stained the Philippine mahogany boards. Daily, he pored over the blueprints, and supervised each stage of construction. He assisted as well in the building and installation of the Frank Lloyd Wright designed furniture. Since my father had been so intimately involved with the house's building process, he could elaborate for Lawrence and Sharon the details of the construction, as well confirming with them the accuracy of their restoration stages. During the Tarantinos entire stewardship up until my father's death in 2008, they relied on his guidance and met with him regularly, spending time with him at the house hearing stories and reviewing the restoration process. Along with my father, I joined the conversations with Lawrence and Sharon at the house several times as well. I had visited the house when it was in the care of previous owners, and I had been extremely distressed by the house's deterioration. Both my father and I were profoundly grateful to Lawrence and Sharon for their expert skill and hard, dedicated labor over many years. My father told me that his experience assisting in building such a work of art has been the most meaningful episode of his life. The beauty and accuracy of the Bachman Wilson House restoration meant the world to my father -- and to me. Best regards, Chana Wilson chanawilsonmft@gmail.com (510) 338-7947
