My Dearest One Italy May 5, 1944 Good afternoon my sweet & how are you this nice sunny & lazy afternoon. I say that because that is just the way I feel. The mail just came and your letter of the 18th. It sure is funny. I got your letter of the 20th five days ago. I don't see how it can get so mixed up. Sweet you spoke of your mother getting her Easter candy. I hope you got yours also. They were all sent at the same time. And I had so hoped they would get there on time. Honey I don't think it is possible for you to miss me any more than I miss you. And if you do you are sure in one heck of a mess. Some times when I get to thinking & feeling sorry for myself, I just about go nuts. Then again it could be so much worse. As it is we are able to write one another everyday and even tho it is 12 or 15 day old when we get it we have the satisfaction of having. When I think of the fellows who are missing in action & their wives now knowing what to expect, I think We pretty lucky. And Honey from the looks & sounds of things I don't see how it can be to much longer untill we can be to-gether for ever & ever, so keep your chin up sweet as I have said many times before every thing is going to come out OK. Just remember Sweetheart that we have one another regardless of how far apart we may be. And that when this is over I am going to try & make up for all the long & lonely hours you have had to spend. Maby I can kind of half way make
