The Voice of America and the U. S. Information
Service is one of the most important weapons in the
arsenal of the Free World in combatting the evil forces
of communist aggression. These gentlemen have told
us that the attacks on the U. S. Information Service
have reduced the Voice of America to impotence,
that they have deprived the United States of this
key weapon in its fight against Soviet aggression.
Had a member of the Executive branch of the
government been responsible for destroying the effectiveness
of the Voice of America, such official should
be impeached or at least censured. There is no
question who is responsible for the attack on the
Voice of America which has produced the results
so clearly portrayed by the report of Mr. Canham and
his colleagues. This is the responsibility of the
