The "Fayetteville Polka" was composed by F. Zellner. Mr. F. F. (Ferdinand) Zellner is listed as a professor of music in the 1859-1860 catalog of the Fayetteville Female Seminary. From a letter published in the February, 1967, issue of FLASHBACK (volume 17, no. 1) we learn that after leaving Fayetteville, Zellner taught at Mills College in California. According to a letter written by Zellner's niece, Mrs. Julia Zellner Thompson, her uncle later "directed an orchestra in San Francisco." |
