Reel 325, Item 11
Come old and young and bear me tell How strong tobacco smokers smell,
Who love to smoke the pipe so well That for tobacco they will sell Their right for social union.
For the ladies sweet and it is true,
But they have learned to use it too,
It'd almost make a monkey laugh
To see them spit upon the hath "hearth"
And talk of love communion.
From five to six we see Out in the bushes a breaking of sticks, The sticks are got the swabs are made And in a bunch they'll all parade And there for snuff communion.
And now the snuff box is took out And with the swabs they'll dip it out, They'll rub their gums until they're sore The swabs are spoilt some three or four And talk of marriage union.
