Reel 326, Item 4 Gambling on the Sabbath Day
A poor unworthy boy who dare To disregard his mother's care,
Who like to see your sister dear, nd scorn to hear your mother's prayer.
Here on the gallows, hear him tell,
His dear old mamma fare-you-well,
I know my soul is doomed for hell,
And soon with demons I may dwell.
The doctors say that he is dead,
His soul from body now has fled,
His soul has gone to meet its God,
His body lies beneath the sod.
Dear darling sister, do not weep,
Hut always Sabbath try to keep,
I've idled all my time away By gambling on the sabbath day.
