Jan 1960 Reel 329, Item 14
1. There once was an Indian maid A shy little fairy maid
Who sung all day a love song gay
While on the plains she'd while away the day
For she loves a warrior boy
Built bravely and gay
Who rode one day to the battles far away Refrain:
Now the moon shines tonight on pretty Red Wing
While the breeze is sighing - while the night bird's crying
Far, far beneath the stars her brave is sleeping
While a Red Wing's weeping her heart away.
2. She watched for him both day and night And she kept all the camp fires bright
And each night she would lie beneath the stars
And dream of his coming back by and by
Now when all the braves returned
A heart of a Red Wing yearned
For far away her lover gay
Fell bravely one day.
