Reel 319, Item 13
I used to hear an old sawmill man, and he used to tell some of the horriblest stories. He said, one time, that he went out to see a man that lived away out on the ridge a way down from where he was. And a nice looking woman came to the door. And he said, "Where’s your husband?” And she said, ”Oh, I don’t know, he’ll be back directly.” After while, a big buck nigger come around the corner of the house, and she said, ”Mr. Privet, I want you to meet my husband.” And he fell down almost on his face he was so astonished. ”Oh,” she said, ’’you don’t need to worry about that. My sister married a sawmill man.”
