Reel 304 # 20
Collected by W.C. Anderson For Mary C. Parler Transcribed by Linda Humphrey
Sung by W.C. Anderson Fayetteville, Ark. Jan. 5, 1961
In the Garden of Gethsemane
Jesus said to his disciples,
Set ye here while I shall pray,
For his heart was sad and heavy For that hour to pass away.
In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus prayed and wept for me,
Prayed alone while all were sleeping In the Garden of Gethsemane.
He was one who was willing From my sin to set me free,
Sweat great drops of his dear life blood In the Garden of Gethsemane.
Taking three disciples with him,
He fell down upon the ground,
Praying there unto the Father,
Not my will but thine be done.
W.C. Anderson's mother got this song from Miss Ruth Howard- ton about 30 years ago. She sang it in Lawrence without ac- companiament. It has been printed but not attributed to anyone.
