The Berryville Outlaw
Now I'll skip out and hear them shout,
And be in Arkansas.
I rode down to Harrison and a couple of days or so,
I turned my eyes west, toward Uricky I did go •
The crowd they followed me on toward Uricky,
And told me to hush my jaw,
Or I should lie in the Berryville jail,
Carroll County, Arkansas.
They captured me on King's River,
I might have killed a crowd
If it hadn't a-been for the shackling chains
That rang so clear and loud.
Now, they'll take me back to old Berryville,
Go through a course of law,
Then I'll take a ride by the Marshal's side
To Little Rock, Arkansas.
Mr. High •• That's all I know of that. Dave died and the other feller did, too.
Dave is--was-stayed here with us one night. He came through this
country lots. His paw lived over on Long Creek and they lived
back--er--some of his folks lived back the other way. And I just
sang it thet-a-way.
