Mrs. Jessie Woods Green Forest, Ark. Dec. 29, 1959
Ree. 333, Item 15
My name is Floyd Eddings,
The son of old Doc,
He truly disowns me But I'm one of his flock.
Hell is thy portion,
Go naked to low,
And on to old Carrollton A-robbing I'll go.
I went to Green Forest And hired to work,
They come and handcuffed me And took me to court.
They summonsed a jury,
It never cost them one cent,
And back to old Berryville To jail I was sent.
I sent for my father,
I thought it all well,
He never come anigh me And I wished him in hell.
No father, no mother,
No money to spend,
They left me here lonely Myself to defend.
The jailhouse caught on fire,
I called for help,
They never came anigh me,
Just lay there and slept.
The plagued old sinner's Gone after the key,
He don't seem to care If the jail fire bums me.
I wrapped in my blanket And threw myself down,
They never came anigh me
Till the jail house burned down.
