The Country Maiden
Oh there was a country lad And he married a country maid,
He married a country maid, she was dumb, dumb, dumb.
She could make and she could mend
She could cook and she could spin,
She could keep her house so clean with a broom, broom, broom.
She was neat in every part
And she pleased him to the heart,
But oh and alas she was dumb, dumb, dumb.
So he took her to the doctor Who cut the standing string,
So he cut the standing string of her tongue, tongue, tongue.
Then she began to walk
And her tongue began to talk,
I'd give anything again if she were dumb, dumb, dumb.
