Reel 335, Item 9
Come all you bold robbers And lend me your ears,
Of Quantrell the brave fighter You quickly shall hear With his band of bold raiders In double-quick time, he came to burn Lawrence just over the line.
All whooping and hollering And raising the yell,
Like so manydevils Just raised up from hell.
With guns all a-blazing And horse a-foam And Quantrell riding his famous big roan.
They came to burn Lawrence, They came not to stay,
Jim Lane he was up at the breaking of day.
He saw them coming and got in a fright,
He crawled in a corn-crib to get out of sight.
Quantrell was a fighter,
A brave hearted boy,
A brave man or woman he would not annoy.
He robbed from the wealthy And gave to the poor,
To the brave man there was never a bolt on his door.
