A Negro Expression
"One day while working near the depot, a little small negro all dressed up walked by and picked up a spike mawl ana hit
a few licks. When he got threw showing out he walked off and rubbed his hands together. The expression that was used by one of the big black boys was "I hates a niger that dry Washes his hands."
(My father, Mr. R.K. Moore, worked on the railroad for a while when he was a young man. And this was one of the expressions that he heard and that stuck with him.)
