Reel 200, Item 2
Model A Ford
Oh, come along, friend, listen what I say
About a new Ford called the Model A,
Old John Henry knew his biz
When he said he was gonna make a lady out of Liz.
A fella bought one just the other day,
Went to try it out on a new highway,
When he got to sixty he lost his nerve,
Forgot to cut it off when he went around a curve.
Passed a Packard and a Cadillac, too,
Speedometer exceeded to seventy-two,
All along the road the people heard him shout,
Got the thing in second and can't get it out.
Now if you want to go to heaven I'll tell you what to do,
Drive an old Ford that's big enough for two,
Every time you take a girl out for a ride,
She'll want to stop and kiss you every time you go a mile.
If you want to go to torment drive a Model A,
It'll outrun the devil and you're sure to get away.
