Reel 73, Item3
Good Old Baling Wire
Things keep breaking every day at some place on the farm,
We boys lose lots of time that way and do a lot of harm,
But Dad soon makes it all so right and pulls it from the mire,
By mending things almost at sight by using baling wire.
Good old baling wire,
It's good old baling wire,
You can weld your chains away from home
Without expense or fire;
The man who says it is no good,
He surely is a liar;
What on earth would we all do
Without our baling wire?
The neighbors all have learned from Dad, and now keep a supply,
But when the brake is just too bad a one for them to tie
Why then they send for Dad to come, and all the mischief
Seem just to disappear by means of some small strands of baling wire.
How folks could farm long time ago is more than I can see,
How things stayed fixed or they could go is sure a mystery,
What could they do if things broke then? They could not even hire
A man to do the mending then; they had no baling wire.
What Dad can do if you'll but give him baling wire to use
He'll almost make the dead to live, and this old earth refuse
To move on its course in space, I doubt not that our sire
Could hold this universe in space with strands of baling wire.
