Reel 126 Item 5
Old Nicky Brannigan had a mighty fine dog;
He was bred with real elegant stock;
For seventeen hours in battle he fought;
He did, to my soul, by the clock.
His tail was a neat little bit of a stub;
Bowlegged, with two crooked eyes;
Prom the looks of his snaggle tooth was enough;
He was the devil himself in disguise.
Then bow, wow, wow! What a dog, to be sure,
For fighting he would never give up;
There never was another sich a villainous dog
As old Nicky Brannigan's pup.
He tore the tail off of Maloney's best coat,
Eat the bustle off of Mary Ann Flynn;
He ran right between old McFlannigan's legs;
How, wasn't that truly a sin?
He took little Dutchy Shoemaker's dog
And swung him around like a rat;
He tore the tail off of Jim Sammerson's goat,
And the tail off of McManuses' cat.
Then bow, wow, wow, etc.
An Italian came along with an organ one day,
And a monkey tied fast by a string;
And when that dog seen him he yelled with delight,
And he made a most wonderful spring.
He upset the organ, the grinder and all,
And bursted the organ inside;
Bejasus, he tried to swallow the monkey string and all,
Got choked on him and died.
Bow, wow, wow, etc.
(Softly) Bow, wow, wow...
