Reel 413, Item 1 The Boy, The Witch Woman, and the Dog
... and this old witch woman she went down to the old lady's house, the one that had the little boy. And so she begged the little boy's mama to let him go back with the old witch woman. And when they got to the old witch woman's house, she put him in bed, and she went in
the kitchen, and was heating some water. And when she got through heating
the water, the little boy got scared, and he got out of the bed, and
went out in the yard, and clambed up in a tree.
And then the old woman she went in there, and he wasn't in the bed, and she looked under the bed, he wasn't under the bed. And she went on out, she looked under the house, and he wasn't under the house.
And she looked up in the the tree, and the little boy was up in the tree.
She went back in the house and she got a ax and she commenced to cutting,"Chickety whack, chikety whack.
The More I cut the more the chips fly
The old ginia(?) woman never get tire."
the little boy was getting scared. And his dogs there at home kept a-barking and barking. And so the little boy's mama told old Big Man, say, "If anything wrong with my son, you run to the front gate, and come back and throw your paw up in my breast. And he run to the front
gate and run back and throw his paw up on her breast. And she jumped
up and went to the gate and turn him out.
The old woman still cutting.
More I cut more the chips fly Old Ginia woman never get tire."
And the tree was getting kindly wavely.
And the little boy he thought about his dogs. And he commenced to calling them: "Oh, Big Man,
Oh Sonny Whippwer."
Dog barking: "Eyow eyow Eeyow, yow."
Old woman she kept a-cutting:
And th tree just bout to fall.
And he call de dogs again:
"Oh, Big Man Oh, Bomba,
Oh, Sonny Whipper."
And they got there. And the old lady say, ALittle boy, don't
let your dog bite. I wasn't gon' hurt you."
"Yes you was. You was gon' kill me. Take her old Big Man."
Old Big Man grabbed her and throwed her down. And then he come
on down the tree, and carried em by the store and bought em some new
