Reel 353, Item 3
(Fuller and Warren)
Come all you sons of Columbia, your attention I do crave, While a sorrowful ditty I'll relate,
It happened here of late in the Indiana state,
To a hero whom none could excell.
In the fortunes of love, he was handsome and gay,
None were more valiant or more brave,
But I'm sorry now to say, instead of his wedding day,
Poor Fuller lies silent in the grave.
Like Samson he courted his choice of the fair,
Intending to make her his wife,
But like Delilah fair she did his heart ensnare,
Which robbed him his honor and his life.
A gold ring he gave her as a token of true love,
And the crown (?) of this ring was the image of a dove,
They were mutually agreed to get married with speed,
They were promised by the powers above.
But this fickle-minded maid vowed she would rather be With young Warren, a liver in this place,
But one fatal blow proved Warren's overthrow,
Which ended in shame and disgrace.
Now young Warren, you have wronged me to gratify your cause By reporting I had left a proudent (sic) wife,
It's not up to your cause, or will I break the law, (?)
Or, Warren,I'll deprive you of your life.
Then young Fuller in a passion of love and anger flew,
Which will cause many a girl to sigh, (?)
But one fatal shot laid Warren on the spot,
Says, Now brave Fuller, I must die.
Poor Fuller was condemned by the honor of the court my fate is to die,
The ignominious death
on the gallows so high. (Like Haman ?)
The morning arrived when brave Fuller was to die He smiled and he bade the crowd adieu,
Like an angel he did stand, for he was a handsome man,
And on his breast he wore a ribbon of blue.

Now all the ancient histories, that we can understand A woman is eventually the downfall of man,
By this we are trapped, and this we do believe,
That Adam was beguiled by Eve.
Oh marriage is a lottery with few that gain the prize A woman's pleasing to the heart and to the eyes,
But those that never marry can well to be called wise So ladies, excuse me, good-night.
